Welcome to my website for the reelection of Dennis P. Walsh to the Saddleback Valley Board of Education.

Thank you for viewing my website.  I have tried to be open and honest about who I am, what I stand for, and how I will serve.

I am running for reelection to the Saddleback Valley Board of Education, Board of Trustees and I'm asking for your vote.  I have served 2 terms and I would like to serve another 4 year term.  During my time as trustee, I have served as President, Vice President, and Clerk.  I have been active in the California School Boards Association and have completed the Masters in Governance Program. Please look through my website for more information about me.

Local TV Appearance

On Wednesday, October 17, 2018 I appeared on ThisDay, hosted by Ken Goldenberg. This is shown on Laguna Wood's Village TV. The program is shown live each morning, and then it is repeated throughout the day.

Four people are running for two positions this November.  I am the only incumbent running for reelection. That means there will be at least one new Trustee on the Board, hopefully not two.  We have a good school district, and have been fortunate to have had good people on the board for the twenty years I have been involved with them.  What makes a good Trustee?  Besides the unique experience of an individual candidate, one's business acumen or classroom experience, a good Trustee:
  • Puts students' needs first;
  • Has been involved with the school district;
  • Has a good understanding of school finance in California;
  • Knows where education is headed;
  • Is open, honest and transparent; and
  • Is not seeking the Trustee position to advance his or her own agenda.

It takes more than his or her wanting to be on the school Board to be a good Trustee.  Just wanting to do something will not make it happen.  We are dealing with government bureaucracy (the state and federal governments), which controls the purse strings.  Beyond that, it takes a majority of three to get things going. One person cannot get things accomplished on the Board without being part of an effective team.
